Global Hunger Index 2019 India slipped to 102nd rank out of 117 countries, also shuttered economy with unemployment rate 45 years high. 


In the midst of this, smoldering crisis resulted country wide lockdown makes position even worst.

Casual and Daily wage workers of worstly affected.

100s of million people are being thrust into extreme poverty and hunger because of the economic impact of lockdown and ranging pandemic.

Casual daily wage workers such as rickshaw pullers, street vendors, weaver, artisians and home based workers are worstly affected.

Their food pattern or diet gets extreamly affected. Many families reports they eliminated nutritious but unaffordable food such as Dal, Milk, Vegetables, Fruits, Eggs and Meat. 

Unless they shifted towards less nutritious foods like coarse rice and roti salt. Teaching one's body to endure with less and less. 

Homeless hardly manage to keep their hunger by eating food provided by religious charities in Gurudwaras, Temples and Dargahs. Circumstances forcing people to lineup for hours each day for ladle of food.

Childrens who depends on mid day meal - school is now closed and they send to work, scrambling through waste to discover anything to eat or sell. 

United Nation University Paper (Precarity and the Pandemic June 2020) estimates 400 million new workers are at risk of slipping into extreme poverty.

They hardly manage to servive with less than $1.90 doller a day. Specially middle income countries in South and East Asia.

Indian government planning to extend working hours from 8 to 12 hours a day by suspending protection of various labour laws for 3 years to bring economy back on track.

The decision faced very critical opinion and termed it as cruel policy. Workers are humans like us they cannot be treat like machines. 

Increase in working hours will reduce their efficiency and make them physically and mentally more vulnerable. 

Need of an Hour

Economic impact of COVID19 will be long lasting, next 2 to 3 year seems economically challenging for India.

It's high time to understand Prime Minister's clarion call for Atmanirbhar Bharat and Vocal for Local. 

Promoting domestic goods will not only supports local producers in devastating pandemic like COVID 19, but also lift up country's declining economic graph and heal historic unemployment crises.

India-China geopolitical disturbance resulted to ban 59 applications like TikTok, Camscanner, Xender, Shareit etc prevailing the market. 


People finding Indian alternatives of all banned applications, it's a golden opportunity for Indian software developers to show their skills. 

Government pulled back many development projects from chinese contractors. It encourages self-dependency among fellow citizens and motivates them carry forward the idea of Local for Vocal.

Way Forward

India is country of youth with infinite potential, all they need is proper resources and right direction. They will definitely sail India back to the mark of world's fastest growing economy.

Their are certain remarkable provisions in New Education Policy recently passed by the cabinet adds positive hopes about future of the country.
